Very interesting area and unknown to most collectors including myself - When you say genuine overprints I take it there are many forgeries of the earlier stamps.

Thanks, Fisherman.

For this issue there are no counterfeits of the basic stamps but the overprint has been counterfeited. Most of the 1 Peso overprinted stamps I have seen are counterfeits.

Also, there was a theft of the basic stamps, which is the reason for the overprints and so all of the imperf and pin-perf items one sees on the market are from this theft.

I like what I'm seeing; a bit more explanatory text would do it merit.

Thank you, stamphunter.

This exhibit was prepared based on my experience exhibiting at the national and international levels where judges subtract points for too much write up. Their comments boil down to "The place for a longer write up is in an article or book. Have just enough write up to show that you know your subject and no more." Thus, my write up tends to be short.

Forgery Identification
I have done a lot of research on identifying 19th century philatelic forgeries. Specifically the work of Fournier and Sperati. I have an extensive library that can help in identifying the forgers work.
