At 1756 km kms, the N-5 is Pakistan’s longest highway, running all the way from the southern port city of Karachi through the provinces of Sindh, Punjab and North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and finally through the Khyber Pass in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to end at Torkham, at the border with Afghanistan. From Lahore to Peshawar, this highway is also known as the Grand Trunk (G.T.) Road. Our journey will take us through a mega city, provincial capitals, medium sized cities, small towns and villages. These places may lie on the route itself or may lead off a road junction with the Highway. Our journey will increase our awareness of the places visited, including surrounding areas: aspects of their history, culture, architecture, important personalities and economy. Not all aspects will be covered in every location. Occasionally, we will take detours to places of historical, cultural, natural or local importance. Most detours will not required more than a day’s travel. Note: I will only show a few of my pages now as I still have to complete the exhibit.
