Advertising is a bit strong seeing as my personal site is just that, personal not commercial in any way. But, pushing that aside, I frequent sites outside of MP and share links to articles that I write at those sites as well. By publishing on my site, I also maintain the copyright to my work and have a little more control over my rights as the author. No one is forcing any one to stay at my site. Should you choose to go there, by all means go, read and discuss here or any other site. As for awards I am neither here nor there for them. It is attitude's such as yours, that I mainly post my articles on my own site, I may on occasion provide content just here, but I will decide what and when.

Oh, and Blog is short for WeB Log, so I am using it correctly, you may not agree, but that is your opinion in cloud-cuckoo land .

It's good to know, and now for everyone else to know, that you have little intention of posting
something worthwhile at MP. Good for you.
I hope you are grateful to the staff at this fine group that they allow you to be so blunt about your intentions
and get away with it.

Hi Alyn, just been browsing your website, very interesting. Nice trade union labels on your what is it page. They were issued by the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions from 1931 up until 1983 to record payment of contributions.

As for providing a link to your site I can't see problem seen as it opens in a new tab/window and you've got an MP banner at the foot of each page.

I am talking about Blogs.
I linked to one commercial site [not blog] in order that members would have more info on what they wanted to see at
the Festival of Stamps.
The only other link I left was in a discussion I started was to give members here the opportunity to but Something at a cheaper price than they normally would have been able to. MP got a nice mention I believe, I would have to check it up.

My talking about Societies,clubs, places to visit etc. is in no way connected with Blogs or advertising.
If you see these Blogs as 'clearly commercial postings', then we are all in the wrong place.
I wrote something in my Blogs, added pics too, that is what it is all about.
That is what MP is all about....but I may be mistaken about that too.

Guys, please...we all love stamps. It is just a matter of how we express it. This expression can be subjective.

Tell you what...I recently received a personal invite from one of the MP members to post my images outside MyPhilately with an ad that says: "Hey Emilia, it is free to do so" and that I can have blogs there as well. I was somewhat taken aback so I emailed one of the founding members of MP about this. This person responded and said that it is cool as the website has a link back to us, MyPhilately. In any event, I did not do it as I have no time to maintain several blogs.

Oftentimes, people choose to have a blog outside MP because it gives the Blogger the freedom to add more decorative font, decorative images: in short, features that are not available (yet) if the Blog is done in MP. Furthermore, Stamp collecting is also an Art. Having a blog outside MP allows us to have more freedom of expression in terms of creativity (ie: banners, colourful headings)

I recognize that Alyn's blog linked us to another blog: her Stamp Collecting Blog and MyPhilately is about stamp collecting. Alyn's blog also linked back to MyPhilately. This is promotion back to us and nowadays, even Dan Brown encourages us to promote MyPhilately to friends and families -- provided, obviously, it is tastefully done.

I recognize we are all very passionate about stamp collecting. I am also certain that we all know that MP (like other website communication) is a public domain. Words that are written, offensive or otherwise, can be read by anybody (our brothers, sisters, families, husbands, wives, employers, friends, our kids, etc.).

Think about what we comment towards each other

...and yes, London Bus1, I love your blogs. Let me know when there is a new one. By the way, Canada is issuing a stamp joint issue with Israel. I think coming out on April 14...if my mind serves me right.

I offered to make a stamp cover for Theo but he already got his order placed. He is "in the know"! Theo does not need me. However, I extend the offer to you, LondonBus1, if you want one, let me know!
